The Workshops in the Schools

The choreographers, composers and filmmakers worked with the young people from September 2008 to January 2009 – one 90-minute session per week for 13 weeks. The project took place within the normal school day and in each school the teams worked with a whole class.

The pupils learned basic dance and choreographic skills and were given an introduction into the process of shooting and cutting a film and creating music/sound for film.

Working in small groups together with an artistic team, the pupils selected a place in Berlin for their postcard. Some chose iconic Berlin sights, others “insider tips” from their area.

The pupils considered the history of their chosen place: why is this place important? what does it mean for the city? They also reflected upon their personal relationship to the place. Inspired by the location, the pupils planned their dance-films.
